Victoria Co-opearative Fisheries Limited, established in 1955, a 69 years sustainable seafood producer located in the pristine Northeast Highlands region of Cape Breton Island. This forward thinking co-operative purchases locally harvested seafood from its members. Once processed, our products are shipped worldwide to many customers located in Japan, Vietnam, China, Hong Kong, South Korea, Singapore, Thai Land, and Europe. We also ship a significant amount of product to the United States and within Canada.
Victoria Co-operative is the only active lobster processing facility on Cape Breton Island. We purchase a variety of seafood from over 120 inshore commercial fishing vessels including: Lobster, Snow Crab, Halibut, Groundfish and Mackerel. The majority of our product is purchased from vessels that are locally owned and operated by our co-operative members.
The direct employment of as many as 140 people in peak periods contributes approximately $3.7 million in payroll annually to our local economy and overall sales in 2022 of $47 million dollars.
